This weeks ‘Favourite Photo’ is of a small tortoiseshell butterfly (Aglais urticae) feeding on lavender flowers in a Yorkshire garden. I use this one as wallpaper on my computer.
I love the colour and smell of lavender, and grow some each year in my own garden.
I took this photo several years ago, and it always makes me think of the carefree summer days of childhood. I grew up in a house with a spacious cottage-style garden, and used to love watching bees and butterflies flitting among the flowers.
If only life could be so carefree now……
